Financial Aid Information:
The Academy of Art University offers financial aid packages consisting of grants, loans and work study to students who demonstrate financial need. Low-interest Federal Student loans are also available to eligible students, regardless of need. The Academy's Financial Aid office is staffed with helpful advisors who can guide students through the financial aid application process and determine students' eligibility for Federal Financial Aid. The office is open Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm and on Saturdays, 9:00am-5:00pm. Phone: (415) 618-6190. The Financial Aid programs that the Academy participates in are: Pell Grant Program, SEOG Program, College Work Study Program, California State Grant Program, Federal Direct Student Loan Program (Stafford-Subsidized, Stafford-Unsubsidized, Plus loan Program).

Graduate Program: BFA or equivalent and portfolio.
When to Apply: Apply as early as possible to ensure enrollment in all your classes. Applications are accepted through the first week of each semester. Applications accepted up to two years before you plan to enroll. Applicants can enroll full time or part time; participate in degree or non-degree programs; attend day, night or evening classes, online or on campus.

The Animation & Visual Effects program at Academy of Art University trains students for careers in the expanding fields of TV and feature film animation. The curriculum reflects the needs of today's competitive industry; students can study traditional fine art/ feature animation, as well as 3-D animation motion graphics and visual effects in state-of-the-art facilities.
The major courses have been co-designed by both Pixar and the Walt Disney Animation Company. The program is taught by a select group of faculty who are all working professionals. Under the guidance of this talented team, each student prepares a professional portfolio in preparation for employment at any of the major animation studios. With the Academy's relationship with Disney, Warner Brothers and Dreamworks, top students have been placed in positions such as storyboard, layout, character design, character or effect animation, background painting and concept art.
The Academy of Art University continually invests in new equipment to ensure that the school remains on the cutting edge of technology. The Academy's eight-story Digital Arts Center offers students access to some the most advanced technology in the nation, including Silicon Graphic workstations and PowerMac G5 workstations. The Center also houses two animation labs where students can pursue traditional animation. Facility software includes: After Effects, Image Ready, Photoshop, Premeire, Maya, Flash, Fireworks, Flint, 3dmax, Combustion, Commotion, Lightwave, Dreamweaver, US Animation, InDesign, Image Modeler, Quark, QuickTime Pro and Effect.
The faculty of the Academy of Art University is unique in that it is comprised 90% of top working art and design professionals who share their practical experience with our students. The Academy draws it faculty from the leading firms in the industry, including Pixar.

The Career Services Office at the Academy offers assistance to all students and alumni in developing successful careers in the art and design industry. AAU's high professional and industry standards result in more than 80% of graduates working in art & design. Graduates have gone on to achieve successful careers with several prestigious companies, including Walt Disney, Pixar, and Industrial Light & Magic.
