Faculty Description: The study of Art & Design has thrived in Leicester for generations, from small beginnings at the turn of the last century to the large Faculty of today incorporating undergraduate, postgraduate and research activities in design, architecture and fine art. Fahion & textile design subjects have always had a natural assiciation with the industry of the East Midlands, though in recent decades the study of lingerie, sportswear and footwear design have become areas of excellence at the Leicester campus. We have an enviable record of student acheivement in three dimensional design and industrial design and, in recent years, multimedia design and design management, increasing Leicester's reputation for innovation and leadership in design and education. Students are offered a comprehensive selection of modules of design study, ranging from those concerned with craft production through to studies with a highly technological and industrial focus.
Alumni Information: Multimedia Design graduates enjoy excellent employment prospects as graphic & new media designers, animators and web designers/masters as well as much work in related fields such as marketing, advertising, exhibitions and events.
Career Placement Information: There are no formal placements within the courses but many students arrange their own work experience during vacation periods and this is encouraged and supported by tutors.
